Our city is a beautiful city. The nation’s capital is home to our parliament, affluent neighbourhoods, thriving businesses, and cultural diversity. Amidst all of the good, there lies a deeper reality, that many people in our city are struggling through isolation, poverty, and a battered identity. We believe that when businesses, neighbourhoods, our youth and the art community collaborate in doing good, our cities will thrive. You’re here to partner with us in our efforts to help make our city a better place to live in; one person, one neighbourhood at a time.

We believe that when businesses, neighbourhoods, youth and the art community collaborate in doing good, our cities will thrive.

Our vision is, “To co-create a restorative anti-racist, place based movement of healing, equity, justice, and belonging.”

Good City People works to make Ottawa a better city for all. We work to initiate and strengthen neighbourhood networks by helping leaders of all sectors collaborate and co-create on belonging, equity and justice. We equip and train businesses and organizations to prioritize place based engagement, we host events that centre artists and the marginalized, we organize and activate for equity and justice. We believe that when we do the hard work of loving our neighbour and neighbourhood our whole city thrives.

Art – Equity – Justice

Our mission is, to hold brave space where artists and marginalized voices are centred; co creating together what it means to love our neighbour.

We’re definitely not the hero of this story. You are. Here are a few ways that we’ll work with you to make our city a better place to live in.

We at Good City People:

  • Host community- building gatherings that facilitate necessary discussions, and forge community connection.
  • Host monthly Story Nights that highlight local artists, hear stories from our neighbourhoods and provide a brave space for belonging.
  • Host Art Church, a weekly gathering where through art and spiritual practices we can do the inner work required to better love our neighbours.
  • Host annual events in the areas of neighbourhood, art, spirituality and justice.
